Pure and Ultrapure Water Treatment: Electrodeionization
Deionized Water by Electrodeionization
Our individual EDI systems for electrodeionisation are used after reverse osmosis, so that very low conductivities occur. Electrodeionization is an alternative to the conventional mixed bed exchanger to treat boiler feed water, process water in the electronics industry, pharmaceutical industry, hospitals and laboratories . span>.
The advantage of an EDI system is the continuous process with chemical-free, environmentally friendly regeneration. The storage and handling of acid and lye is therefore completely eliminated. Our EDI systems not only offer you high quality, but are also space-saving thanks to their compact design. Another feature is the minimum of maintenance with high operational reliability.
Functional principle of electrodeionization:
In the case of electrodeionization (EDI for short), an electric field is applied transversely to the flow direction of the water. The ions of the dissolved salts migrate in this field to the electrodes with the opposite charge. Special membranes, which are either only permeable to cations or anions, but not to water, ensure, in combination with mixed-bed ion exchangers, that the water is almost completely desalinated. You can find out more about the functional principle of electrodeionization here.
