What is hard water?
Hard Water means mainly calcium and magnesium, which in the form of ions dissolved in the water.
These minerals cause deposits in devices and pipes and thus reduce the efficiency of eg boilers, washing machines or Water treatment plants. calcium or lime deposits - colloquially also referred to as calcification - cause not only deposits on skin, hair and clothing, but also unsightly discolouration on sinks, bathtubs, shower cubicles, toilets and taps.
Hard water thus increases the energy and maintenance costs of devices and systems and also favors a increased consumption of detergents and in water treatment of process water and process chemicals.
